An evening of great live music from:
MEGAN HENWOOD
http://www.meganhenwood.moonfruit.com/

As a child growing up in Henley Megan was exposed to music at an early age watching her mother sing at nearby Nettlebed Folk Club and she developed an ear for a tune while listening at home to the likes of Abba and Queen. As she grew older she found inspiration from the songs of Bill Withers, Tracy Chapman, Bob Dylan, Anais Mitchell, Ralph McTell and Joan Armatrading, among others. Her first known appearance was on the Kenton Theatre stage at the Henley Festival where she performed one of her own songs at the tender age of 9! As a teenager her songwriting skills continued to develop and she formed her own band "Megan and the Boys‟ honing her craft on the local live circuit. At eighteen she spent six months travelling where she paid her way playing guitar and singing to crowds in Venice, Thailand, India and Malaysia. It was during this time she fell in love with the people of Nepal and has since returned to Kathmandu twice to record with leading Nepalese musicians Nirmal Kulu, Binod Katal and Shyram Saram Nepali. Profits from her first single release were sent back to the charity "Child Action Nepal‟ to help the orphans of Kathmandu. Back in the UK, between songwriting and performing Megan regularly contributes to music therapy sessions for people with learning difficulties. These experiences have had a profound effect on her songwriting. Her powerful, poignant and often witty lyrics are woven around wonderful timeless pop melodies and demonstrate a depth and maturity far beyond her 21 years.
JAMES DEANE
http://www.myspace.com/jamesdeanemusic

James Deane is a singer/songwriter based in Guildford near London. Starting his musical journey alongside future EMI recording artist Ed Harcourt in power-pop four piece ‘Snug’, James has since gone solo and has been intensely focusing on song-writing. Upon discovering classic artists such as 'Crosby, Stills & Nash', 'Neil Young' and 'The Band' he set out to write those type of songs. Acoustic based slices of perfection that pull at the heartstrings and have the ability to tell his entire life story through simple, honest lyrics. The resulting songs are powerful and sincere with world-weary lyrics that belie his 29 years.
With a strong and original voice and the spirit of early Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen in his live performances James soon attracted the attention of music publisher Jana Yell who signed James to Yell Music in 2009. His sights are now set on the USA and he has been attracting some welcome attention in the music capital, Nashville.
ROBINSON
http://www.therobinsonmusic.com/
The story begins…
Once upon a time there was a Lord Burgess who was a very wealthy respected landowner at the turn of the last century.
He had butlers, servants and most importantly maids to wait on him hand and foot. This ‘Lord’ ended up having his wicked way with one of his maids therefore leaving the mother no other choice but to abandon her bastard child and give him to the orphanage.
This bastard of a baby was Robinson’s great grandfather, who turned out to be a coal mining alcoholic. Robinson insists that this family background has been a trigger for his creativity; however, his music is driven by the influence of Dylan and Waits.
Inspirations are endless and ongoing, from the readings of Charles Bukowski and the other down and out beats to the darker gothic sounds of eastern Europe. Whether it be guitar, piano, clarinet or sax Robinson’s melodies are pulled from many lovers.
Where does the story go from here? Will Robinson echo the life of great grandfather or is something much better waiting around the corner? To be continued…
