An evening of great live music from:
Ady Johnson pulls on the heart strings but also brings balls to the acoustic cannon! This is demonstrated in his 2011 debut Tell the Worry Dolls, where his unique and dynamic blend of soul, folk and pop, garnered rave reviews and earned him national radio airplay across the UK. Ady backed the release by playing over 50 shows last year, including an appearance at the Latitude festival and sharing bills with, Willy Mason, Chris Helm, Adam Ant and Matt Cardle.
Inventurer is the stage name of composer, producer and songwriter Michael Palmer. His music is a sublime mix of pop, rock and folk sentiments.
Born in Zimbabwe in the days of colonial Britain, Michael started life with aspirations to be a painter or cartoonist.
But soon (after realising that most of his paintings were of musical instruments!) he realised his true calling was music.
There is only one way to describe singer/songwriter Ben Jordan: journeyman.
Well, that used to be the case.
While he will always be learning and honing his craft, on guitar, as a songwriter and as a vocalist. The time has come for Ben to step into a larger arena and share his considerable gifts. For he is truly an apprentice no more!
For the last few years Ben has traveled the US, UK & Europe, listening, learning & playing. His voyage has taken him to several of the country's musical hot beds (including New York City, Nashville, New Orleans, San Francisco, & both Denver & Boulder, CO) where he had the privilege of befriending some rising stars, and established vets, including Derek Trucks, members of The Black Crowes, The Slip, Warren Haynes, Kelly Joe Phelps, The Jazz Mandolin Project, Adam Levy (of Norah Jones' Handsome Band), and Brad Rice (Ryan Adams, Son Volt & Keith Urban), Don DiLego, Johnny Pisano (Jesse Malin & Ryan Adams) & Colorado’s newest rising star, Gregory Alan Isakov.
A gifted instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, Ben has recorded several solo albums and is currently finishing on a three album project based on haiku, which consists of an EP, which was released online, a full length record which was released in 2010 and a second EP to be recorded in the UK this spring.
Ben will be playing solo shows throughout the UK and Europe while starting a UK version of his band, The Heathens.
Conor Owen is an exciting maturing UK singer song-writer who combines an acoustic melodic style with a powerfully raw edge. The singer's key influences are both contemporary and classic including John Martyn, Damien Rice, Nick Drake and Ray LaMontagne.
Conor's forthcoming release "The Observationalist" is his debut solo EP, featuring the songs "There's OnlyYou" and "Flies With Her Own Wings". The album is an honest and heart felt interpretation of life, family and relationships as Conor sees them. The album has a distinctly anthemic feel to it featuring lavish string sections in songs such as "Softly Softly" and "There's Only You".
Most importantly, Conor is real, in every sense of the word. No glamour, no fakeness, just plenty of substance. The creativity and passion will make you listen and come back to listen again more closely. www.kickfacerecords.co.uk
